On New Year Resolutions…

I believe in being intentional about things you want happening in your life. Writing your goals down is a good start, apparently you’re 42% more likely to achieve goals that you’ve written down…

As we celebrate the new year, I challenge you to set one of the following financial goals and work towards them in 2024

1. Start saving
Even if it’s R100 a month, it goes a long way on a rainy day. Develop the habit of saving money until it becomes second nature to you. My mom always say ‘tshelede a i liwi sa mahuyu, muthu u a sokotedza’. Loosely translated ‘you don’t spend everything you make, set something aside no matter how small it is’.

2. Start investing
Saving is good but you know what’s better investing. Make money as you sleep this year through investing. The good thing is you don’t need a lot of money to start, you can start with a little R100, open up an easy equities or Frank or statrix account and start investing in shares, exchange traded funds or property shares or get a tax free savings account with your bank. Remember Small efforts over time compound. Stay away from scams, money like trees takes time to grow!!!

3. Make additional payments towards your debt.
If you make an additional R1000 payment on your vehicle finance every month. By the end of the year you would have repaid R12 000 extra, you can finish repaying your car/ loan quicker, you’ll be charged less interest and you’d be debt free sooner. You now know better, be smart about your money!

Remember start small and build up momentum from there! Here’s to a finally savvy life in 2024 🥂

Happy New Year! Save this post for later or share it with your friends 🫶🏾
